Axel, the dynamic CEO of Bags with a Story, brings a wealth of experience and a global perspective to our mission. A seasoned globetrotter with extensive experience across Asia—spanning China and Vietnam—Axel has always been deeply engaged with producers and manufacturers.
His journey took a pivotal turn in 2016 when he first ventured to India in search of cotton and jute producers. What Axel discovered was disheartening. Many companies, despite boasting a range of certifications, fell short of true ethical standards. They often displayed little respect for their workers, misled customers about the materials used, and lacked honesty regarding their certifications.
This experience ignited Axel’s dream to do things differently—to create a company that not only delivers on its promises to customers but also fosters a better world for the heroes behind the scenes—our dedicated seamstresses.
By 2018, disillusioned by the empty promises of various manufacturers, Axel decided to take matters into his own hands. He embarked on starting his own project, driven by a commitment to integrity and a desire to improve conditions for the seamstresses. Despite encountering numerous challenges, including dishonesty and betrayal from local partners, Axel persevered. There were many moments when giving up seemed easier, but his dedication to the well-being of the workers kept him moving forward.
